Events in Kizugawa City


Composed of three the municipalities Kizu, Kamo, and Yamashiro, Kizugawa City hosts numerous community events throughout the year. We welcome you to come check them out!

 

2017 February - Cultural Events 

 

February 1 (Wed) Saganaka Shrine Mochibana

Location

Saganaka Shrine Saganaka Shimizu 1

Join us for a traditional Shinto dance and song performance in a mochi-decorated hall.
It is said that this tradition was started by Empress Jingu on her way to battle the Silla Kingdom in an effort to comfort the weeping children in the area.
The bending bamboo branches decorated with mochi are beautiful hung in the main hall.
This event is designated as an intangible cultural property by Kyoto Prefecture.

February 8 (Thur) Joruri-ji Temple Three-Story Pagoda Special Opening

One of the shrine’s many events. Events held by the shrine are considered intangible cultural properties by the Japanese government.
